Environmental Cleanup at Jackson's Pronto Cleaners Delayed Wednesday, July 6, 2011 The environmental cleanup taking place at the former Jackson's Pronto Cleaners in Owensboro, Kentucky has been delayed due to the discovery of a much larger plume of contaminated groundwater than what was originally expected.
Working with the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection and the Region 4 EPA Project Officer, the City obtained a one-year extension to the grant in order to address the larger groundwater issue.
A modified Remedial Action Project Plan is currently being prepared. Read more... Project Kick-Off Meeting Friday, April 24, 2009 Represtentatives of the the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection (KYDEP), the City of Owensboro, and their brownfield consultant, Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), met on February 19, 2009 for the Project Kick-Off meeting. The meeting was hosted by the City at City Hall along with a tour of the project sites along Allen and E. 9th Streets. The meeting was held in order to allow the stakeholders a chance to meet each other and to lay out a game plan for the cleanup activities on the properties. Read more...
