City of Greenville Applying for New Grants
By Kristen H. Long Sunday, October 12, 2008 Summary: The City of Greenville is applying for additional grant funding from the EPA for their brownfields program. In order to continue the City's well established brownfields program, and to build upon their successes, the City is applying for $400,000 in grant funds from the EPA Brownfields Program. If awarded, the City will use these funds for environmental assessments and community involvement. The draft application is available for review and public comments are welcomed.
To address contamination found at the Smart Property (a property the City acquired in order to assist with the redevelopment of the Salvation Army Kroc Center/A.J. Whittenberg School complex), the City is also applying for $200,000 in clean-up funds. The draft clean up application is also available for review and public comments are welcomed.
A public meeting is scheduled to occur on October 30, 2008 at 6:00 pm at the West Greenville Community Center. All interested parties are invited to attend.
