County Prepares for Removal Activities at Seminole Mill

Summary:

The County's contractor CTC along with SWS are preparing to begin removing the remaining debris piles from the Seminole Mill Property.

As part of the assessment grant at Seminole Mill, an Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alterntives (ABCA) was conducted that identified, evaluated and selected the appropriate remediation/management method to address the environmental concerns on the site. The ABCA evaluated three alternatives (including no action) for the dump area and recommended excavation and off-site disposal of soil at an appropriately permitted landfill facility was selected.

The selected removal contractor, SWS, is currently preparing to initiate removal of the debris. Following excavation, representatives of CTC will conduct confirmation sampling to ensure the correct standards have been met.
