Project Team Hosts Second Brownfields Task Force Meeting

Summary: Second Brownfields Task Force Meeting takes place.

The City, along with assistance from the Project Team, hosted the second Brownfields Task Force Meeting on May 27, 2008 at the Stanford L. Warren Library in Durham.

The City's contractor CTC provided updates on the status of the ongoing Phase I Environmental Site assessment as well as additional assessments that are forthcoming.

Bruce Nicholson, the North Carolina State Brownfields Coordinator, presented information on the State's brownfields program, including the potential liability protections afforded participants with successful projects.

North Carolina Central University, who is assisting the City with community outreach , informed task force members of recent activities. Additionally, a professor with assistance of a student, gave a demonstration on the Geographic Information System (GIS) that is being developed in conjunction with this project.
