Mayor of Ware Shoals Presents at Brownfields Academy Enterprise Mills, Augusta, Georgia By Joe Morici Friday, April 18, 2008 Summary: Mayor Rush presented the Town of Ware Shoals’ Brownfields redevelopment project at the Brownfields Academy at Enterprise Mills in Augusta, Georgia. On April 17-18, the South Carolina and Georgia chapters of the National Brownfields Association partnered with the University of Georgia’s Fanning Institute to host a joint meeting and a Brownfields Academy at Enterprise Mills in Augusta. Mayor George Rush participated on the Community Forum panel, where he presented the Town’s Brownfields redevelopment project to a panel of experts, representing the regulatory, legal, insurance, environmental consulting, and economic development fields. The panel offered suggestions and recommendations on how the Town should proceed with the redevelopment project.
The Georgia Brownfields Academy is an educational and networking opportunity offered twice a year by the University of Georgia's Fanning Institute to public and private sector professionals interested in redeveloping brownfield sites. Those interested in furthering redevelopment opportunities for communities and individuals are invited to attend.
