Draft Brownfield Application Submitted to NCDENR Monday, June 9, 2008 The Town of Navassa has applied to the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR) to have the Former Cape Fear Meat Packing Plant be included in the State's Brownfield Program. By entering into the program, the Town is granted contamination liability protections of past uses of the property. This is a key step in paving the way for redevelopment of the property. Reports Submitted to EPA and NCDENR Friday, January 4, 2008 A Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) will take place on the Former Cape Fear Meat Packing Plant property located along the Cape Fear River in Navassa, NC. In order to complete the Phase II ESA under the provisions of the Brownfield Grant, a Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP) and a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) have to be submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources for approval.
