City of Greenville, North Carolina Applies for Follow-on Environmental Protection Agency Grant Friday, December 2, 2011 The City of Greenville, North Carolina submitted a proposal for an additional $200,000 of hazardous substance grant funding from the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) brownfields program on November 28, 2011.

Greenville, North Carolina Welcomes Community Input Tuesday, August 23, 2011 The City of Greenville, North Carolina is asking the community at large to attend a meeting to learn about the accomplishments of their brownfields program as well as how to further expand the project's successes.
The City's brownfields program will be discussed as part of the Environmental Advisory Commission's regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, September 1, 2011. Benefits of participating in the program will be highighted. The project team will ask for citizen input regarding priorities for redevelopment and how the city should best expend their grant funds.
Additionally, the city will discuss continuing their brownfields program with the application for follow on funding from the EPA.
The meeting will be held at the City offices from 5:30 - 7:00 in the evening. Read more... Property Owners Meeting for Multi-Parcel Phase I Environmental Assessment Monday, February 1, 2010 The City of Greenville and consultants, Concurrent Technologies Corporation and Duncklee & Dunham, will be holding a property owners meeting on Monday, February 1, 2010, to discuss a planned Phase I Environmental Site Assessment for multiple parcels in Greenville’s Center City near the eastern end of the 10th Street Connector project. Properties between Dickinson Avenue and Washington Street from West 8th to 10th Streets will be included. Each of the property owners and tenants in the project area received a letter informing them of the planned activities and an invitation to attend the meeting. Additional information on the planned Phase I Environmental Site Assessment will be presented, and opportunities to ask questions about the process will be provided.

Greenville Selected to Receive $200,000 EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant Friday, May 8, 2009 The City of Greenville, North Carolina, was selected by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to receive a $200,000 EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant to target petroleum-contaminated brownfield properties in the West Greenville Redevelopment Area. This is the second EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant received by the City. The first grant was awarded in May 2007. Read more... Greenville's Brownfields Assessment Project Underway Thursday, March 5, 2009 In 2007, the City applied for a Brownfields Assessment Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to build upon the Revitalization Plan by inventorying, assessing, and conducting redevelopment planning at some of these brownfields sites. Following a competitive review, the City was subsequently awarded a $200,000 Community Wide Assessment Grant to address sites with known or perceived hazardous substance contamination.
