Columbia Connectivity Study Final Report Unveiled Tuesday, March 13, 2012 In September 2011, an Urban Land Institute South Carolina Technical Assistance Panel (ULI TAP)worked with the City of Columbia to study how to make Downtown Columbia more accessible to pedestrian and bike traffic. The overall mission of the ULI TAP was to provide recommendations for improving the connection between Main Street, the University of South Carolina campus, the Innovista, and the Vista to support the successful revitalization of Downtown Columbia and make the corridors more accessible to pedestrian and bike traffic.
Over a two day period, the ULI TAP met with various stakeholders, including local business proprieters and representatives of the downtown residential community, to hear concerns and gain input. A preliminary discussion of the ULI TAP's findings was
presented at the close of the second day; the full report of findings will be released today, March 13, 2012 at a presentation given by John L. Knott, Jr., President and Co-founder of the Noisette Company, founding member of ULI South Carolina, and Panel Chair for the Columbia Connectivity Study.
Additional local coverage of the ULI TAP can be found via The State newspaper's article.
